私が初めて軽井沢を訪れたのはもう２０年も前のことになります。実は私は父の仕事の関係で４歳から１４歳までの１０年間を、埼玉県春日部市で過ごしました。大阪生まれのこってこての大阪人に見えますが、多感な時代に、以外にも関東で育っていたのです。そして、２０年前に今の会社を興したころ、自分の人生を見つめなおしたい気持ちを持って、車でその埼玉の私の育った街を見に行くことがありました。その帰りにふと軽井沢というところに行ってみたくなり、訪れたのが初めての軽井沢でした。当時はもちろんまだ新幹線もなく、古い軽井沢の駅舎があり、今でもの風景を思い起こすことができます。何よりもその時に私の心を惹いたのが「浅間山」でした。寒い軽井沢に活火山の赤茶けた大きなその裾野は、私の心を震わせたのです。それ以来、軽井沢には毎年のように、浅間山に癒されたくて通うようになりました。そういえば、私の息子が初めて歩いたのも軽井沢のホテルの庭を散歩した時でした。浅間山の魅力は今も変わらず、私はその時に必ずいつかこの町で暮らしてみたいと思った気持ちは今も変わっていません。
軽井沢には、２０年前からよく訪れる居酒屋があります。当時は、軽井沢には食事をする店が少なく、夏場以外のシーズンオフは飲食店はほとんど開いておらず、地元の人が使う居酒屋はここ一軒しかありませんでした。しかしその居酒屋は、毎日上越から魚を取り寄せ、新鮮な魚を食べさせてくれる軽井沢唯一のお店でした。今もそのお店には、軽井沢へ行く度に行かせていただいております。とてもおいしいお店です。軽井沢駅近くの「藤村（とうそん）」といいます。
